33mm. steel case indistinctly stamped with reference number 7964 between the 19mm. lugs at 12 and serial number at 6, case back correctly signed and correctly stamped CRS6, correct Crown underline winder.

This is a terrific early example of the very rare Tudor Ranger. The dial is perfect with the original lume and hands, the case has had very light polishing – the lugs are still thick and well proportioned, it has the original winder and correct calibre 1156 movement, the bracelet is undated but it is a lovely original Rolex folded link bracelet and it was bought with this bracelet intact from the original owner. THE TUDOR RANGER The Ranger has always been a controversial watch within the collecting fraternity. The early examples shared the same reference numbers with other more ordinary Tudors and it wasn't until much later in the ‘80's that the Ranger was given its own reference. The consequences of not having its own ref numbers was that unscrupulous persons took advantage and fakes were made. Fortunately the ‘good-guys' have come through and we now recognise the good ‘uns from the bad ‘uns. In general the bad guys have the word Ranger in red and some of the naughty ones have a gap between the OYSTER and DATE when the two words should be conjoined on the real McCoy. There were two versions of the Ranger; the Oysterdate and the Oyster (non date).
